The A7X is a vertical two-way powered monitor. A 7-inch woofer covers the low and mid range up to a 2.5 kHz crossover point, where it hands over to an X-ART tweeter. Each driver has its own amplifier: a 100 W PWM amp for the woofer and a 50 W class A/B amp for the tweeter. Frequency response is stated as 42 Hz to 50 kHz, and maximum SPL per pair at 1 m is 114 dB or more.
The X-ART tweeter uses a folded diaphragm with a 4:1 velocity transform ratio. The woofer cone is made of carbon, Rohacell and glass fibre. Large bass reflex ports sit on the front panel, so the speaker can be placed closer to a wall. The cabinet shape is designed to limit unwanted reflections, and sound radiates in a directional pattern in the vertical plane to reduce early reflections from desks and consoles.
The rear control panel offers input sensitivity, tweeter gain and low and high shelf filters for adapting the speaker to the room. Inputs are analogue XLR and RCA, covering balanced and unbalanced line sources. Volume and the power switch are on the front.
