The SP1000 is a portable digital audio player built around two AKM AK4497EQ DACs, one for each channel. It decodes PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz bit-for-bit and plays native DSD up to DSD256 (11.2 MHz). MQA files and streams are supported, including Tidal Masters, local files, external USB sources and ripped MQA-CDs. An octa-core CPU handles the interface, file transfers and processing.
The body is made of stainless steel or copper, with an Onyx Black version using a PVD-coated stainless steel finish. A 5-inch 720 x 1,280 touchscreen sits in a bezel-less front, and a multi-function wheel on the side handles power, screen on/off and volume. The interface puts music playback on the home screen. The player has 256 GB of built-in memory and a microSD slot for cards up to 1 TB.
Outputs are a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a 2.5 mm 4-pole balanced output and a 3.5 mm optical output. A USB 3.0 Type-C port is used for charging and for data transfer to a computer. Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz) is built in, and firmware updates are delivered over the air. The battery gives up to 12 hours of playback in the maker's standard test and charges in about 2 hours with a 9V/1.67A fast charger.
