CRAVE is a monophonic analog synthesizer with a fully analog signal path. Its voice is built around a 3340 voltage-controlled oscillator offering pulse and reverse-sawtooth waveforms, a Mix control that balances the oscillator against a noise generator, and a 24 dB ladder filter with switchable low-pass or high-pass mode. An analog LFO with triangle and square waves and an Attack/Decay/Sustain envelope generator handle modulation. Glide is included, and the noise source can also be used as a modulation source.
The onboard sequencer stores up to 32 steps of notes and rests per pattern. It holds 64 patterns in 8 banks of 8 and can be played in Keyboard mode or Step mode. A separate arpeggiator offers 8 patterns and runs from a played chord.
The instrument works without patch cables thanks to its default routing. For further patching there is an 18 x 14 I/O matrix, and 47 controls are laid out on the panel. A Poly Chain function lets several units be combined for up to 16-voice polyphony.
