Active 18-inch bass-reflex subwoofer with a Class D biamped amplifier rated at 700 W RMS and 1400 W peak. It is meant to extend HK Audio LUNAR, POLAR and SONAR systems, with preset-based tuning for mobile PA use.

The PORTABLE SUB 118 A is a self-powered subwoofer built around an 18" woofer with a 3" voice coil in a bass-reflex MDF cabinet. It reaches 35 Hz (-6 dB) and 31 Hz (-10 dB) at the low end, with a peak level of 131 dB SPL. A 24 dB/oct crossover is set by one of four filter presets: LUNAR, SONAR, POLAR or a general 100 Hz low-pass. The crossover point is 100 Hz or 80 Hz depending on the preset, and latency is 2 ms to 3.3 ms.
The amplifier is Class D and biamped. A stereo preamp allows 2.1 setups, and 24-bit DSP handles processing at a 48 kHz sample rate. Protection comes from a subsonic filter plus peak and RMS limiters. Gain and polarity are adjustable.
Signal comes in on two balanced XLR/jack combo inputs and can be passed on through two balanced XLR Thru outputs. Power is supplied via an IEC connector. The cabinet has a steel front grille backed with acoustic foam, an M20 pole mount and two MultiGrip handles. A protective cover is available as an accessory.
