SPU GTX E

The SPU GTX E pairs the tonal character of the long-running SPU line with a glass-fiber reinforced co-polymer unibody housing. It is hand-built in Denmark. The bottom cover is moulded from the same material, so the generator sits in a uniform, rigid, low-resonance enclosure.

The stylus is elliptical, with a narrower front radius and a broader side radius. This gives more contact with the groove walls and is intended to improve tracking and detail. The GTX E shares its construction with the spherical-stylus GTX S and differs mainly in the diamond.

A step-up transformer, developed with Lundahl Transformers, is built into the body. The cartridge therefore has a 4 mV output and connects to a standard phono stage or amplifier input like a moving magnet cartridge, without a separate step-up device or head amp. It mounts with a bayonet/SME fitting.
