The MB2 XBD SE is a passive three-way floorstanding loudspeaker in the SE Series, built as a twin-cabinet design. Each bass section uses Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) loading, with an effective ATL length of 2 x 3m, and is driven by two 310mm (12") PMC Radial bass drivers. A 75mm PMC75 SE soft dome handles the midrange, and a 27mm Sonolex soft dome tweeter with ferrofluid cooling covers the high frequencies.
The quoted frequency response runs from 20Hz to 25kHz with a sensitivity of 93dB (1W, 1m) and a 4 ohm impedance. Crossover points are at 380Hz and 3.8kHz, and the recommended amplifier power range is 10 to 800W. The cabinet stands 1740mm tall plus 50mm spikes and weighs 116kg.
Connection is by three pairs of 4mm sockets, allowing tri-wire or tri-amp operation from suitable power amplifiers. Registering a new pair within 10 days of purchase extends the warranty to 20 years, subject to terms and conditions.
