The Stereo Box E is a small integrated amplifier with a fully analogue preamp and a motor-driven analogue volume potentiometer. It delivers 2 x 21 W into 8 ohms or 2 x 40 W into 4 ohms (1% THD). A headphone jack on the front switches the output to the headphones when a plug is inserted.
Seven inputs cover most sources. There is a phono input for MM cartridges, plus an RCA line input and a 3.5 mm line input. Two optical and one coaxial S/PDIF input feed the built-in DAC, and Bluetooth 5.0 supports aptX and aptX HD. A subwoofer output is provided, and a USB-C output supplies power to compatible streamers so they need no separate adapter.
The amplifier sits in a steel case with a brushed aluminium front panel and aluminium buttons, in black or silver. Speaker terminals accept banana plugs, spade connectors or bare wire. Its dimensions match other Pro-Ject Box components such as the CD Box E and Tuner Box S3, so they can be stacked together.
