Shotgun

The Shotgun is a guitar-level buffer and splitter that can feed up to four amplifiers at once. With a signal in input 1 it works as a 1×4 mono splitter. When both inputs are in use it reconfigures itself automatically into a 2×2 stereo arrangement, with input 1 feeding the first pair of amps and input 2 feeding the second pair.

Every output is buffered to avoid signal loss and isolated with a transformer to remove buzz and hum caused by ground loops. Ground lifts are provided on the outputs, and 180° polarity reverse switches let the amps be phase-matched with each other.

Typical uses include sending a pedalboard output to several amps, effects or a PA, passing a stereo chorus signal through to two pairs of amps while the load is rebalanced, and splitting a guitar in the studio to amps and a direct box so the part can be reamped later. The unit is sized to sit on a pedalboard.
