The JUNO-DS61 is a 61-key synthesizer with a 128-voice sound engine and 16 parts. It ships with more than 1,200 patches, over 30 drum kits and 64 performances, including GM2-compatible sounds. User memory holds 256 patches, 8 drum kits, 128 performances and 100 favorites, and one rewritable wave expansion slot accepts additional sounds loaded from a USB flash drive.
Playing and editing are handled from the panel, which has a pitch bend/modulation lever, four control knobs, four level sliders and eight multicolor pads, plus a 256 x 80 dot graphic display. Three multi-effects systems with 80 types, three chorus types and five reverb types are available, along with a separate set of eight reverbs for the mic input. Preset rhythm patterns (30 groups x 8) and 128 preset arpeggios are included. WAV samples (44.1 kHz, 16 bit) can be imported, and multi-sample import is supported from system program version 2.00 with the Tone Manager software. An audio file player reads WAV, AIFF and MP3 files.
The unit has stereo 1/4-inch outputs, a headphone jack, a 1/4-inch mic input, a stereo mini external input, MIDI in/out, and a USB computer port carrying both MIDI and audio. Power comes from an AC adaptor or eight rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries.
