The Beta 91A is a low-profile boundary-style microphone designed to sit inside a kick drum, where its half-cardioid pattern gives high gain-before-feedback and rejects off-axis sound. It is also suited to other low-frequency sources such as piano.
It uses an updated capsule and an integrated preamplifier, and its frequency response is tailored to bass material. It handles a wide dynamic range, so it can be used at very high sound pressure levels. A two-position contour switch offers a flat response for a natural sound or a low-mid scoop that adds low-frequency punch with more high-frequency attack.
The preamp and XLR connector are built into the body, which keeps the setup compact and reduces stage clutter. No external mount or accessories are needed, and a zipper pouch is supplied for storage.
