The H6 is a battery-powered handheld recorder that writes to SD, SDHC and SDXC cards up to 128GB. It records WAV files up to 24-bit/96kHz (BWF-compliant) or a range of MP3 formats, and can capture six tracks at once. Auto-record, pre-record and backup-record functions help avoid missed takes, and built-in effects cover low-cut filtering, compression and limiting.
The unit ships with an XYH-6 X/Y capsule, and the capsule slot accepts other interchangeable capsules such as the MSH-6 mid-side capsule. Four combo jacks accept XLR or TRS, each with its own gain knob, -20dB pad and switchable +12/+24/+48V phantom power. The capsule also provides a secondary stereo mini-jack mic/line input.
A 2.0-inch angled colour LCD shows levels and settings. The recorder runs on four AA batteries (alkaline or NiMH), USB bus power or an optional AD-17 adapter, and connects to a computer or iPad over USB as a multichannel or stereo audio interface.
