Studio L

STUDIO L is a desktop monitor controller with a built-in 2x2 USB audio interface and two Midas microphone preamplifiers with +48 V phantom power. The interface records and plays back at up to 192 kHz with 24-bit resolution. Volume is handled by a VCA circuit rather than a conventional potentiometer, which keeps stereo balance and phase coherent, and it is operated with a large dial.

On the monitoring side, the unit switches between two independent pairs of studio monitors, each with its own level adjustment, and between audio sources including USB. Mono, Mute and Dim buttons sit on the front panel; Dim lowers the signal to the monitors by 20 dB. A built-in talkback microphone lets the engineer speak to performers, and the headphone section serves two pairs of headphones with individual level controls and a shared source selector.

For connections there are two pairs of inputs plus a 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo input for a phone or music player. The first two inputs accept line sources or any type of microphone, in dual mono or stereo-link mode. Two pairs of outputs go to monitors, and a 2-Track output feeds a digital recorder, extra soundcard or mixer.
