The CXA81 Mk II is a Class AB integrated amplifier built around a toroidal transformer with dual taps. It is rated at 80 W RMS into 8 ohms and 120 W RMS into 4 ohms. The front panel is kept simple, with an aluminium fascia holding power, input selection and a volume control.
An ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC handles digital sources. The USB input takes PCM up to 24-bit/384 kHz and DSD256 or DoP256, coaxial S/PDIF accepts PCM up to 192 kHz, and TOSLINK optical accepts PCM up to 96 kHz. Bluetooth 4.2 supports up to aptX HD at 24-bit/48 kHz.
Analogue sources connect through one balanced XLR and four RCA inputs. A second set of speakers can be driven for another room. The amplifier is Roon Tested and ships with a remote control, Bluetooth antenna and control bus cable. It is offered in Lunar grey and Black.
