The RS 4 is a three-axis handheld gimbal for mirrorless camera and lens setups up to 3 kg (6.6 lbs). A redesigned horizontal plate lets the camera switch to vertical orientation without extra accessories, though the gimbal needs rebalancing after the change. Automated axis locks let it wake or go to sleep quickly. Teflon-coated axis arms and a tilt-axis fine-tuning knob support precise balancing, and the tilt axis is 8.5 mm longer than on the previous generation.
It uses the fourth-generation RS stabilization algorithm and offers PF, PTF and FPV modes, with a customizable trigger and a 3D Roll 360 option. A joystick mode switch changes between gimbal and zoom control. Intelligent functions include Motionlapse, Track and Panorama. The OLED touchscreen auto-locks and shows the current modes at low brightness.
Dual-mode Bluetooth controls camera shutter and lens zoom. The RS 4 works with the DJI Focus Pro Motor, which is included in the Combo version. The RSA communication port connects accessories such as the RS Tethered Control Handle and third-party handles, and the DJI RS SDK allows custom functions. The optional BG70 battery grip extends runtime. First activation requires the DJI Ronin app.
