Vela BS 404.2

The VBS404.2 is a compact two-way bass-reflex speaker in ELAC's Vela 2.0 range. It pairs a single 180 mm woofer with an AS-XR cone, built as a faceted aluminum sandwich, with the JET 6 tweeter, which is handcrafted in Kiel, Germany. The crossover point is 2400 Hz and the stated frequency range is 38-50000 Hz.

The cabinet has a trapezoidal, softly curved shape intended to limit resonance and diffraction. It is finished in high-gloss lacquer, offered in black, white and walnut. A bi-wiring set is supplied, and speaker grilles are available as an optional accessory.

Sensitivity is 87 dB at 2.83 V/m, with a nominal impedance of 4 Ω and a minimum of 3.2 Ω at 240 Hz. It is suited to amplifiers rated for 4-8 Ω loads, with a recommended output of 40-200 W per channel. It can be used as a stereo pair or as part of a multi-channel setup alongside the other Vela 2.0 models, such as the floorstanding and center channel speakers.
