The 1237A is a networked, active three-way main monitor in an MDF reflex-port cabinet. A 305 mm bass cone, a 125 mm midrange cone and a 25 mm metal-dome tweeter each have their own amplifier: 500 W Class D for bass, 250 W Class D for midrange and 200 W Class AB for treble. It reaches a short-term maximum SPL of at least 118 dB and a frequency response of 32 Hz to 22 kHz (-6 dB). The cabinet can be flush-mounted in a wall, and rack mount ears and a front plate are supplied.
The monitor uses active crossovers, a directivity control waveguide, driver protection circuitry and Intelligent Signal Sensing, which drops it to a low-power sleep state (0.5 W or less) when no signal is present. As part of the Smart Active Monitoring family, it is configured and calibrated for the room with Genelec's GLM software. Calibration also needs a 9320A SAM Reference Controller or a GLM Calibration Kit, both sold separately.
Signal connections are a balanced analogue XLR input, an AES/EBU XLR input and an AES/EBU XLR output that works as a thru. Two RJ45 sockets link the monitor to the GLM network. It runs on mains from 100 to 240 V AC.
