Aeon4

Aeon4 is a moving iron cartridge from Grado's Lineage Series, built on the company's patented flux-bridger principle. The coils stay fixed while a very light moving mass generates the signal. It is a low-output design and is meant to be used with a high-gain phono stage. It is offered in stereo and mono versions.

A nude Shibata diamond is mounted on a sapphire cantilever. The internal signal path uses 7N OCC copper, and the cartridge is cryogenically treated during both component preparation and final assembly. The internal structure is damped to limit resonance. The body is Brazilian Ebony wood, shaped to reduce mass for compatibility with a wider range of tonearms and to give a clearer view of the cantilever during alignment.

The cartridge works with tonearms that can track at 1.6-1.9 grams and a phono input load of 10-47k ohms. It is sold as a special-order item that cannot be cancelled or returned. Owners of other Grado wood body cartridges can ask the maker about an upgrade programme with adjusted pricing.
