The Kube 12 MIE is a powered subwoofer in a sealed cabinet, built around a single front-firing 12-inch long-throw driver with a large cone area and high excursion. It is driven by a 300 W RMS Class D amplifier and covers 22 Hz to 140 Hz (±3 dB). It is the second large model in the Kube range and is aimed at bigger living rooms and home cinemas.
KEF's Music Integrity Engine (MIE) applies DSP processing to coordinate the driver and amplifier. It includes iBX Intelligent Bass Extension, which extends bass depth at any listening level. Three room-position EQ presets help tune the output to where the subwoofer is placed. Power behaviour can be set to Auto wake up (which senses audio signals), Always on, or 12V trigger wake-up.
For connections it has RCA phono inputs, speaker-level inputs and KEF SmartConnect. An expansion port accepts the optional KW1 wireless adapter kit, which lets the subwoofer sit away from the rest of the system without a cable run. The Kube 12 MIE is available in black.
