R6 Meta

The R6 Meta is a passive, closed-box centre channel speaker in KEF's R Series. It uses the same 12th generation Uni-Q driver array as the series' stereo models, so its tonality matches the other speakers in the range. The array combines a 25 mm vented aluminium tweeter dome with a 125 mm aluminium midrange cone, and it is supported by two 165 mm hybrid aluminium bass drivers.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) is a maze-like structure behind the tweeter that is described as absorbing 99% of unwanted rear radiation, which reduces distortion. The Uni-Q array acts as a single point source, spreading sound more evenly so that the listening position matters less. The bass drivers have an aluminium skin over a paper cone for a stiff, piston-like movement.

The speaker works with 15–250 W amplifiers and has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. It can be used in an LCR (Left-Centre-Right) configuration and is designed to perform with or without its magnetically attached microfibre grille. It is offered in Black Gloss, White Gloss and Walnut finishes.
