The Klipschorn AK6 is a three-way loudspeaker in which each driver works into its own horn. The design dates back to 1946, and the cabinets are still designed and assembled in the USA. The bass horn has been redesigned and is now fully enclosed, so the speaker no longer has to sit tightly in a corner.
The tweeter is a neodymium unit with a 1" polyimide diaphragm and a copper-clad aluminum voice coil, rated at 109 dB sensitivity. The midrange uses a 1.5" compression driver on an exponential horn. The horn-loaded layout is said to make the speaker up to 20 times more efficient than conventional loudspeakers.
The cabinet sits on a riser base that hides the speaker cables. An aluminum input panel takes cables of any length and thickness. Heritage speakers use book-matched wood veneer, with the leaves kept in sequence so that they mirror each other. Current Heritage Classic models carry a 10-year warranty.
