SGM 10

The SGM 10 is a two-way standmount hi-fi loudspeaker built around a 10-inch Dual Concentric driver, in which the woofer and tweeter share one axis. This gives point-source imaging, a spherical wavefront and even vertical and horizontal dispersion, so the listening position is not limited to the centre seat. The magnet system uses ferrite with copper demodulation rings and a high-flux motor.

The cabinet follows the classic Monitor Gold shape in American walnut, with a dense, rigid enclosure intended to keep low frequencies controlled. A gold-anodized aluminium adjustment panel sits on the front. The bass ports are front-firing, which reduces bass build-up when the speaker is placed near a wall or in a corner, and the speaker can also be recessed into a wall.

A two-way energy control on the front lets the listener make small adjustments to suit the room. The tuning aims for a neutral, uncoloured presentation suited to long listening sessions and to material with fast transients such as funk, electronica and contemporary jazz.
