The BB-1000CD is a boom-box-style recorder that writes audio straight to blank CD-R/RW media or to an SD/SDHC card. Four built-in condenser microphones, two at the front and two at the rear, can be trimmed individually for a balanced capture. Two XLR inputs with phantom power are available as an alternative source. CD recordings are uncompressed PCM, while the SD card can hold WAV or MP3 files.
Recordings can be played back right away through the built-in 10 W stereo speaker system. Playback can be looped and slowed down without altering pitch, which suits practice and rehearsal review. A metronome, chromatic tuner and overdub recording are included, and tracks can be copied from SD to CD or from CD to SD.
Power comes from eight AA batteries or an AC adapter, and a wireless remote control is supplied. From firmware version 1.10 the microphone signal can be routed directly to the speakers, so the unit can serve as a small PA with digital effects.
