The JUDE-MP is a single-channel microphone preamp made by Warm Audio in partnership with Sound Techniques. It reproduces the mic preamp circuit from the Sound Techniques A-Range custom consoles used in London studios such as De Lane Lea and Trident during the 1960s and 70s.
The signal path is built around dual-discrete 3035 Class-A amplification and custom-spec CineMag USA transformers. A 9-position Z-Match impedance control lets the user adjust how the preamp loads a microphone, changing gain behaviour, transient response, frequency balance and harmonic character. Wima and Nichicon capacitors and carbon resistors are used, and the unit is hand-wired and hand-tested.
A dual-channel version, the Stereo Jude, is offered with the same circuit. A manual and product registration are available from the maker.
